What is Energypass and is it still available?

Understand what Energypass is and who it is availabe to.

Please note EnergyPass® was available to customers who signed up to Mojo's Energy Connect program or Mojo EnergyPass®. It is no longer generally available.

EnergyPass® was a flat fee with Mojo that gave customers access to competitive energy rates. They also got their meter upgraded to a smart meter, allowing them to track and manage their usage online via the MyMojo portal and Mojo app.

What are the differences between the levels of EnergyPass?

Customer on either of these plans can choose to pay monthly (Mojo Connect) or annually (Mojo EnergyPass®). If you choose to pay annually up-front, you’ll receive Mojo Points.

Mojo EnergyPass® is $360 upfront and Mojo Connect has $0 upfront charge.

Both plans get you a smart meter upgrade in addition to 0% mark up energy rates. The smart meter digitally reads and stores your energy usage, allowing you to track and manage your consumption in real-time* in your MyMojo portal.

How is the Energypass FiT calculated?

We pay you 20 cents per kWh (rate 1) for the first 5.47kWh of solar energy you export a day. Any further solar exports that day will be paid at 10 cents per kWh* (rate 2).

While we want to compensate customers for generating excess energy, we are also keen to encourage our customers to use their solar power in their home. For most solar homes, this is how you stand to benefit from your system most.

This is because, unless you got solar over a decade ago, your feed-in tariff will be less than the rate you pay for energy (this is true across the industry, no matter which power company you're with). So there’s really no point generating excess solar power if that means you are paying for other electricity at peak rate times!

So along with the two FIT rates, we have also built smart tools to help customers analyse and plan their consumption in line with their generation capacity. By using these tools you’ll be able to see when is the best times to use your solar energy and when you’ll make the biggest savings. You can check these out here.

Here’s how the FIT rates will look on your bill:
When you receive your bill the tariff will be itemised by rate 1 and rate 2 for the total amount generated for the month.

e.g.
Solar FIT Rate 1: 169.86 kWh @ 20c = 33.97CR
Solar FIT Rate 2: 30.14 kWh @ 10c = 3.01CR
In the above scenario, you would receive a credit against your monthly charges of $36.98.

*If you are in Queensland the FiT Credit Rate 2 will increase from 9c to 10 cents from 1 July 2019.

I have prepaid my Energypass for the year, whats happens if I cancel?

You can cancel with Mojo at anytime, there are no lock-in contracts. However if you have paid for your EnergyPass® up-front, that annual fee cannot be refunded.
